open blog post

In my open blog post i will talk about healthy eating and nutrition. In todays economic state and food industry, more and more people are becoming over weight. Food has become a crippling object in peoples lives today. Obesity is one of the main health problems in our country today. Food is an complex object. Eat too much and problems can occur; eat not enough and your body can't sustain itself. To find that right amount nutritionists, doctors, and food experts have come up with multiply ideas, food pyramids, and charts for the person to obtain the right about of nutrients and proteins for the healthy person.
In the culinary world, health and nutrition are very important. When making food, in today's society, i try and stay as healthy as possible.
Here is a chart that I would follow:

  1. Matt,

-I like how you acknowledged the problems with obesity and related it directly to your field. I would assume that in order to be a great culinary artist, the cook must also have a broad understanding of human nutrition.

-Furthermore, not only did I find the chart that you posted to be interesting, but also beneficial! Personally, I attempt to workout everyday and stay physically fit. However, since I moved up to East Lansing, I have not been as conscious as to how divide and intake certain groups of foods. Even though I generally eat healthy, I will thankfully use this chart to help me improve my balance in nutrition.

As for yourself, I have a few questions:

-How much about nutrition will you actually be required to learn if you become a professional chef?

    - In what ways do you think we can reduce obesity throughout the United States?

-What types of foods/dishes do you enjoy cooking the most? Any special recipes?

I also have an interest for the culinary field, so I appreciate your posts.

    Keep working,

    Danny

  2. I thought this was a very interesting blog post and it the chart was very helpful. Do you think that the obesity problem within the U.S. is a problem with eating to much or just not enough physical activity? Or a combination of both?
